Faith, Farming, and Family

Bluegrass Belties Farm & Orchard is owned and operated by Jimmy and Katie Martin-Sorrell alongside their 3 children Broedy, Whitley, and Reece. All members of this hard working family manage the farm, which includes cattle, an orchard, a cattery, and kennel.

It is important to the Martin-Sorrell family to provide the freshest food possible to people who can't produce their own but wish to have a more natural diet. In 2014, Bluegrass Belties joined the Kentucky Proud Homegrown For Heroes Program.

The Martin-Sorrell family also contributes service animals to the fellow veterans among other special needs families. We are periodic visitors with our service/therapy animals to 2 Nursing Homes and 1 Special Education School. And as the orchard continues to grow, the Martin-Sorrell's will be donating up to 10% of every fruit harvest to families in need and/or Local Food Pantry's

Who We Are

As the family grew, they decided to move back to Kentucky to be closer to their family and farm. The family farm is located in Nicholas County near Blue Licks State Resort Park. Jimmy is a veteran and is still serving our country in the United States Air Force Reserve. Katie is a retired from the Army, MEPS after serving in 12 states as a Civilian.

Jimmy and Katie's children are also very involved on the farm and are growing to be cowboys and cowgirls in their own right. Broedy, the eldest son, was an officer in his local FFA and 4H Chapters and is an avid hunter on the farm. He was in charge of the horses, and poultry, as well as caring for a neighbors farm with cattle. Broedy has already proven to be a wonderful ambassador for the farm. He has now moved on to serve his country and is a Cadet in the US Air Force Academy in CO.

Whitley their only daughter, is a guardian and friend to their cats and dogs. Her tenacity has propelled the cattery into a great resource for the farm. Reece, the youngest son, works in the garden and helps with the dogs. He is up and coming in assisting with the cattle and more challenging farm tasks. Whitley has become champion dog and cat breeders and travel to show their Scotch Collies and Ragdoll cats all over the country and Internationally. All enjoy monitoring the Beehives.

Everyone is involved on the farm and memories are made everyday. Jimmy is working hard to make the farm the very best it can be so that it may be in their family for generations to come. The Martin-Sorrell family believes in working towards holistic farming methods and work purposefully toward a more sustainable agricultural future.

Our History

Business-reply@bluegrassbelties.com Bluegrass Belties is a Veteran Farm & Orchard that was started from scratch. Jimmy grew up on several family farms and made lots of memories along the way. During his service in the military, he held those memories close and attributes them to seeing him through many tragedies. His stories shared hope and a peaceful place for his family.

Upon completion of active duty, Jimmy and his family moved to Kentucky to be close to the farms that he grew up on. Jimmy is in the Air Force Reserves at Wright Patterson Ohio and works civil service for the Department of Defense.

The rest is history in the making! Join them on their adventure and schedule a visit to the farm today!
